Lady Sara Richard is an award-winning artist and illustrator currently residing in the woods of New Hampshire. Her work includes book covers and illustrations for renowned publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Hachette, IDW Publishing, Oni Press, DC Comics, Marvel, and Dynamite Comics. Her artwork can also be seen at historical locations such as the Oakland Cemetery Visitor Center in Atlanta and has been published in prestigious magazines such as British VOGUE, Vanity Fair, and The World of Interiors.
Visitors to her gallery can enjoy the slightly macabre artworks she has created. Her sources of inspiration range from Victorian mourning rituals and Art Nouveau to Art Deco, as well as the rich history and mysterious atmosphere of Salem, Massachusetts. Interestingly, she is the tenth great-granddaughter of Margaret Scott, a victim of the Witch Trials.
The title "Lady" comes from her contributions to preserving small plots of land in Aberdeenshire and Glencoe, Scotland, places that often inspire her art and thoughts. Her goal as an artist is to explore what might lie beyond the veil, with an aesthetic twist. To her, history and art go hand in hand, from the world of painters and writers of the late 19th century to the Art Deco period of the 1920s. She paints both animals, with their symbolism, and human figures who may exist in a liminal space between life and death. Her family history includes influential artists, and she hopes to one day be connected with them through her art.
