David Palladini
The New Palladini Tarot Deck is a full 78-card deck that combines elements of medieval, Egyptian, Renaissance, and modern art in a bold, original style. The deck is based on traditional tarot symbolism, but with a fresh and unique perspective.
Palladini combined the symbols of the traditional Tarot with more modern, updated images in a combination of Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles.
David Palladini
David Palladini (April 1, 1946 – March 13, 2019) was an American illustrator renowned for his work on the Aquarian Tarot deck, first published in 1970. His style, heavily influenced by Art Nouveau and Art Deco, brought a unique, modern twist to traditional tarot symbolism, making the Aquarian Tarot a timeless classic that remains popular to this day. Palladini later reworked this deck into the New Palladini Tarot, released in 1997.
Born in Italy, Palladini immigrated to the United States as a child. He studied art, photography, and film at the Pratt Institute in New York City. His artistic career included illustrating children's books, notably "The Girl Who Cried Flowers" by Jane Yolen, and an edition of Stephen King's "The Eyes of the Dragon".
Palladini's work is characterized by its vibrant colors and dynamic imagery, blending medieval, Egyptian, Renaissance, and modern art elements. Beyond tarot, he continued to paint, write, and exhibit his work, spending his later years in Newport Beach, California.
