Ciro Marchetti

Ciro Marchetti is a highly acclaimed digital artist and designer known for his vibrant and detailed illustrations, particularly in the realm of tarot and oracle cards. Born in Italy and later moving to the United Kingdom, Ciro has a background in graphic design and has worked in various capacities within the design industry, including as a creative director and founder of a successful design agency. Eventually, he shifted his focus to digital art and tarot, becoming one of the most recognized figures in the tarot community.

Marchetti's tarot and oracle decks are known for their intricate, richly detailed, and visually striking artwork. His decks often blend traditional tarot symbolism with modern, fantastical, and digital elements, making them popular among both tarot enthusiasts and collectors. Some of his most well-known decks include:

  • Gilded Tarot (2004): One of his first and most popular tarot decks, which is celebrated for its vibrant imagery and incorporation of both traditional and modern elements.
  • Legacy of the Divine Tarot (2009): This deck is noted for its deep, mystical artwork that invites users into a richly imagined world, drawing on both ancient and modern symbolism.
  • Tarot of Dreams (2005): This deck features a dreamlike quality in its artwork, with bold colors and complex, layered imagery that provides a deep, intuitive experience for tarot readings.
  • Oracle of Visions (2014): An oracle deck that explores themes of human experience, psychology, and spirituality through Marchetti's unique visual style.
  • Kipper Cards (2013): A modern reinterpretation of the traditional German Kipper fortune-telling cards, infused with Marchetti's signature artistic flair.
  • Gilded Reverie Lenormand (2013): A beautifully illustrated Lenormand deck that has become one of the most popular decks in this divination system.

Ciro Marchetti's work is appreciated for its depth and attention to detail, often involving a narrative or storytelling aspect that goes beyond traditional tarot symbolism. His decks are accompanied by comprehensive guidebooks that provide insights into the imagery and symbolism of each card.

Beyond his work in tarot, Marchetti has also been involved in creating art for other purposes, including book covers and corporate projects. He frequently engages with the tarot community through social media, where he shares his artistic process and new projects.

Ciro Marchetti continues to influence the world of tarot and oracle card design with his unique and imaginative approach, combining digital art with traditional spiritual themes. His work has garnered a significant following and is widely used by tarot readers around the world.

From a young age, Ciro remembers drawing and sketching as a way of self-expression and sharing images to connect with others. He was fortunate to be selected for an experimental course at his high school in the UK, where he was introduced to graphic design, typography, and illustration. Later, he attended an art school in London, graduating with a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration.

In his late twenties, after several years of freelancing, Ciro moved to South America to join a friend from the same high school program. Together, they founded a graphic design agency. After a few years, the international advertising group Ogilvy and Mather approached their company. The subsequent partnership provided opportunities for expansion, making them the largest graphic design entity in the region at that time. This expansion continued with his move to the US, where he opened a branch of the company in Miami and managed various international corporate accounts, such as American Express, British Airways, Nabisco, and Philip Morris.

Despite the success of this venture, the corporate design world with its protocols and limitations began to lose its appeal. A few years later, Ciro resigned from the company to dedicate his time to his first love: illustration.
